Creating an Action Plan for Your Small Business

I was recently invited to speak at a Women in Business Luncheon in Paso Robles and decided the best topic for this Paso Robles Chamber of Commerce committee would be Creating an Action Plan for Your Small Business.  After all, these women are all business owners or decision makers at their organization.

There are four steps in creating a small business action plan.

  1. Decide on what you would like to accomplish with this action plan.
  2. Declare three goals to accomplish this.  Typically, these are the milestones of the action.  You may also want to write down any obstacles you foresee in achieving these three goals.
  3. Identify three actions for each goal.  These are the step-by-step items to get to your goal.
  4. Select a deadline for each action (yes, all nine of them) and put each deadline on your calendar so that you have it at the front of your mind.  Then get moving and remember to always keep your promises to yourself!
